Reiki

Reiki is an ancient form of healing (laying on of hands) and spiritual work that dates back thousands of years to Tibet. The word reiki consists of two Japanese words: Rei—meaning God’s wisdom and Ki—meaning life force energy. Therefore Reiki can be defined as “spiritually guided life force energy.”

Mikao Usui a Japanese Christian Minister rediscovered the technique in the mid 1800’s. Dr. Usui spent many years researching and exploring the effects of Reiki. Reiki when administered feels like a calming flow of energy that passes through the hands of the practitioner into the person receiving Reiki. Reiki is not a religion, it is a form of natural healing that when administered has the ability to help one relax and release and to just be. It aids in letting go of one’s stresses that has accumulated over time and has blocked one’s energy.

Reiki comes from Divine Force; it does not conflict with other health care modalities, yet it will enhance their results. Reiki is an act of prayer and is given by the practitioner to the recipient with compassion and grace.

Reiki is now being used in hospitals and clinics as a form of treatment that aids in the healing process.
